If you’ve visited the dentist before you may be accustomed to seeing your hygienist first for your cleaning and X-rays and then meeting with the doctor afterward for your exam. You’re in and out in about an hour and on your way to the next event on your schedule.
But what if you’re a new patient and this is your first time at Edina Dental Care?
We welcome all new patients into our practice through the New Patient Exam. The New Patient Exam is more than just the cursory check-up that you may have come to expect. The New Patient Exam is valuable time spent together to learn more about your dental health, listen to your concerns, and collaborate on creating a customized treatment plan.
The first part of the exam allows Dr. Kratz to sit down and get to know you and your dental goals. He can answer any questions that you might have about the practice or his passion for dentistry (and golf!)
From there, the clinical evaluation begins. Dr. Kratz and his dental assistant will guide you through each portion of the exam so you know exactly what is happening. After the exam, Dr. Kratz will recommend the appropriate x-rays and take a digital impression of your teeth using our iTero dental scanner. All of this information is used to establish a baseline of your current health status. If Dr. Kratz would like more time to review your information, our Administrative team will schedule you for a complimentary consultation to go over his findings and recommendations.
Whew. That sounds like a lot. We get it. And you may be wondering if this is something that you want to experience. The answer is yes, and here’s why:
We believe in cultivating lasting relationships with our patients so that we can provide the best dental care. Everyone has a unique dental background and dentistry at Edina Dental Care is not one-size-fits-all. We take time to listen to your concerns and goals and build a treatment plan that is specific to you.
Ready to get started? Call or text us to schedule your first appointment. We’ll work to find a time that fits with your schedule and answer any questions you might have about your first appointment.
*Patients who are in good dental health and have been regularly receiving dental care may be able to couple the New Patient Exam with a preventative cleaning.
